INGREDIENTS AND SUBSTITUTIONS

- Rolled Oats: Rolled oats are best for this apple cinnamon oatmeal recipe for the best text. You can also use instant oats.
- Apples: Cored and evenly dice apples. You can also use apple pie filling if you’ve made it beforehand. I used honey crisp apples here.
- Maple Syrup: Maple syrup is a good source of minerals. You can use other substitutes like agave nectar, honey, or coconut sugar powder.
- Almond Milk: You’ll need two cups of almond milk for creamy oatmeal. You use other plant based milk alternatives or dairy milk.
- Walnuts: Finely chopped walnuts will add a crunchy texture and nutty flavor to oatmeal. You can use other nuts like pecans, hazelnuts, or almonds if you’re allergic to walnuts.
- Vanilla Extract: A little bit of vanilla makes everything taste and smell better. I would highly recommend that you add it.
- Ground Cinnamon: Apples and cinnamon taste divine together in any recipe. You can skip the cinnamon if you’re adding apple pie filling as it already contains cinnamon.
- Unsalted Butter: For a creamy, smooth, and buttery oatmeal, you’ll need some butter. You can use plant based butter as well if you want dairy free options.
- Salt: Add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness and enhance other flavors.
