A bowl full of christmas crunch with festive sprinkles and red and green M and M's

Why you'll love this Christmas Crunch recipe

Quick & No Bake — You only need 15 minutes to make Christmas Crunch! Melt, mix, and let it set. That’s it. It’s one of the most easy Christmas treats for busy holiday days.

Festive & Fun — The colors, the textures, the sprinkles… this snack mix just screams Christmas cheer! Kids especially love helping with M&Ms and sprinkling on magic dust.

Few Simple Ingredients — As complex or varied as it might look, there’s only 5 to 6 main ingredients in this Christmas Crunch recipe. All of which are easily available and economical. That means you can make a big batch without breaking your bank!

Sweet & Salty Goodness — Popcorn, pretzels, and peanuts add a salty crunch that balances the sweetness of white chocolate beautifully. This Christmas Crunch is sweet and savoury in every bite.

Ingredients and Substitutions

This Christmas popcorn mix is a fun twist on the classic Christmas candy mix - colorful, crunchy, and totally addictive! Let see the ingredients needed to make this recipe below.

Overhead shot of Christmas crunch popcorn mix ingredients kept ready ready on a marble board.
  • Rice Chex Cereal: You can substitute with Corn Chex or Crispix or Cheerios.
  • Popcorn: Use plain popcorn (salted or lightly buttered works too). I used homemade popcorn, store-bought popcorn works too.
  • Mini Pretzels: They add the best salty crunch! Pretzel sticks are a great substitute.
  • Roasted Peanuts: You can use roasted pecans, cashews, or skip nuts for a nut-free version of Christmas Crunch.
  • Holiday M&Ms: Red and green for that festive Christmas look. You can also use sprinkles in different holiday themes.
  • White Melting Wafers or Candy Melts: Wafers melt smoothly and coat everything evenly. You can substitute it with White Chocolate Chips.
  • Holiday Sprinkles:  Optional, but highly recommended for all my easy Christmas treats. Festive sprinkles make these treats to next level.

See recipe card for quantities.

Quickly stir in the M&Ms and holiday sprinkles before the chocolate begins to set and let it cool until the chocolate hardens, about 30–40 minutes.

Once set, break into chunks and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.

This Christmas Crunch popcorn mixture is the perfect blend of sweet, salty, and crunchy, everything you want in an easy treat for the Christmas season!  Each bite is coated in smooth white chocolate and filled with colorful candies, pretzels, and popcorn for that irresistible sweet treat everyone loves.

Hint: Spread the coated Christmas popcorn mix in a single layer on parchment paper, this helps it cool evenly and prevents big clumps from forming!

Variations for this Crunch Mix recipe

Chocolate Peppermint Crunch — Add crushed candy canes and use dark or milk chocolate instead of white. Follow the same steps for the rest of the recipe.

Nut-Free Crunch — Skip the peanuts and add more cereal or extra pretzels instead. You can also add seeds, crushed biscuits, and mini marshmallows if you like to.

Peanut Butter Christmas Crunch — Melt 2–3 tablespoons of peanut butter with the white chocolate. Follow the next recipe steps as I’ve shared in the instructions.

FAQ

Why is my Christmas Crunch not sticking together well?

You need enough melted chocolate to coat the mix. Make sure to toss thoroughly before it sets.

Can I make this easy Christmas crunch ahead of time?

Yes! Christmas Crunch stays fresh and crisp in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. So you can totally make it in advance.

Can I use regular chocolate instead of white chocolate?

Absolutely. Any chocolate works in this Christmas Crunch recipe. I use white because it gives the most festive look when topped with holiday sprinkles.

Can I add more mix-ins?

Of course! Mini marshmallows, sprinkles, pecans, or crushed cookies all work great in this Christmas Crunch.
