Rich, chocolatey, and ready in minutes, this eggless Nutella mug cake is the perfect single-serve microwave dessert, soft, moist, and delicious with a dusting of powdered sugar and fresh strawberries.
Fresh strawberries or raspberriesto serve (optional)
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
Add the Nutella, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until the batter is smooth and no dry flour remains.
Pour the batter into a microwave-safe mug (8–12 oz).
Microwave on HIGH for 60 seconds. Check the center; if it looks wet, microwave in 10–15 second bursts until the top is set and the center is slightly soft (70–90 seconds total, depending on your microwave).
Let the mug cake rest for 1 minute to finish setting.
Dust with powdered sugar and serve with strawberries, if desired.
Notes
Use the right mug: A microwave-safe mug (8–12 oz) gives the cake room to rise without spilling over.
Mix really well: Stir until the batter looks smooth so you don’t end up with dry flour pockets.
Start with less time: Microwaves vary a lot, so it’s better to microwave less and add a few seconds if needed.
Slightly underbaked is perfect: The center should look set but still a little soft—overcooking makes mug cakes dry and rubbery.
Let it rest for 1 minute: That short rest helps the cake finish cooking and gives you a softer, nicer crumb.
