  • Mixing Bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Hand Mixer
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces dark chocolate bar chopped
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream chilled
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ cup Nutella
  • Chopped hazelnuts for garnish

Instructions

  • Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl and melt it using a double boiler or in the microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  • Once melted, add the Nutella and mix until well combined. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium-high speed for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Add the powdered sugar and continue beating until soft peaks form. Set aside 2 tablespoons of the whipped cream for garnish.
  • To the remaining whipped cream, add the Nutella and melted chocolate mixture.
  • Gently fold the ingredients together until fully combined and smooth, be careful not to deflate the mixture.
  • Transfer the mousse to a piping bag, cut the tip, and pipe it into serving glasses or bowls. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.

Notes

  1. The recipe yields 6 servings, with each serving approximately 4 ounces.
  2. When folding in the Nutella and melted chocolate, use a gentle folding motion to keep the mousse light and airy.
  3. If using a microwave, melt in 15-second intervals, stirring in between. If using a double boiler, stir continuously to prevent burning.
  4. Unlike traditional two-ingredient mousse, this recipe holds its texture even at room temperature thanks to the addition of melted chocolate!
  5. For the make-ahead option, you can prepare this mousse up to 2 days in advance. Keep it covered in the fridge and add toppings just before serving.
