Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Fork or whisk
  • Shot glasses or cups
  • Meansuring cup

Ingredients

  • 1 box 3 oz strawberry Jell-O
  • 1 box 3 oz blue Jell-O (berry or blue raspberry)
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • Patriotic sprinkles
  • Water (both cold and warm)

Instructions

Make the Blue Layer (Bottom Layer)

  • In a mixing bowl, dissolve blue Jell-O in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir continuously for about 2 minutes until fully dissolved.
  • Add 1 cup of cold water and mix well.
  • Pour the mixture evenly into serving cups, filling each about ⅓ full.
  • Refrigerate for 45–60 minutes, or until completely set.

Make the white creamy layer

  • In a small bowl, sprinkle unflavored gelatin over ½ cup cold water. Let bloom for 5 minutes.
  • To the bloomed gelatin add ¼ cup of warm water and whisk until fully dissolved.
  • Whisk in sweetened condensed milk and mix until smooth.
  • Let the mixture cool for 10 minutes (so it won’t melt the red layer), then gently pour over the set red layer to fill each cup to about ⅔ full.
  • Chill 60–90 minutes, until set.

Make the Red Layer (Top Layer)

  • In a bowl, dissolve strawberry Jell-O in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir for 2 minutes until fully dissolved.
  • Add 1 cup of cold water and mix well.
  • Let the mixture cool at room temperature for 10–15 minutes.
  • Gently pour the red layer over the set white layer, filling each cup close to the top.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until fully set.

Finish

  • To a bowl; add heavy cream and powdered sugar. Whisk until stiff peaks.
  • Transfer it to a piping bag and garnish the jello cups. Top with patriotic sprinkles right before serving.

Notes

  • Let each layer fully set before adding the next.
  • Cool liquids slightly before layering to prevent mixing.
  • Pour gently over the back of a spoon for clean layers.
  • Use clear cups to show off those beautiful red, white and blue jello shots layers.
  • Chill thoroughly before serving for the best texture and presentation.
